Chinese Cultural Experience Summer Camp 2026

A Week of Discovery, Shared Learning and Friendship in Chengdu

In August 2026, the UK-China Culture & Education Exchange Centre (UKCCEEC) successfully hosted a week-long Chinese Cultural Experience Summer Camp in Chengdu. More than 30 students and teachers from the UK joined Chinese students for a memorable programme of cultural discovery, hands-on activities and shared learning.

Held from 16 to 22 August, the camp brought young people from both countries together to experience Chinese traditions, explore new perspectives and build friendships through everyday interactions.

Bringing Chinese Culture to Life

Throughout the week, students explored Chinese culture through a varied programme of workshops, performances and visits. They tried traditional bamboo weaving, experienced the art of shadow puppetry and enjoyed Sichuan opera’s spectacular face-changing performances.

A visit to the Sichuan Cuisine Museum offered an opportunity to discover local food culture through cooking and tasting. Visits to see giant pandas and explore Dujiangyan added further highlights, introducing students to the region’s wildlife and historical heritage.

Alongside these traditional experiences, a visit to an artificial intelligence and robotics facility offered a glimpse of modern China, with opportunities to explore technologies ranging from service robots to drones.

Learning Together, Connecting Across Cultures

At the heart of the camp was the opportunity for British and Chinese students to learn alongside one another. Through shared lessons, cultural activities and time spent together, they exchanged ideas, practised communication and discovered both the differences and the interests they had in common.

British teachers also delivered interactive lessons, giving Chinese students a taste of the British classroom while contributing to a lively, collaborative learning environment.

The programme was about more than visiting a new country. It created space for students to ask questions, share their own experiences and develop a more personal understanding of life in another culture.

Celebrating a Memorable Week

The camp concluded on 22 August with a closing celebration featuring performances by British and Chinese students, the presentation of certificates and the exchange of contact details. It was a fitting end to a week of learning and new friendships.
